Hibernation or death?

HI.

well I have an important qustion to ask.

I had this Rose hair tarantula for 3 years now. Never had a problem with her.

But about 2 days ago she started to hide in the dark under a piece of wood. which is so far normal.

But the problem is she's like dead. She's berely moving and doesn't respond at all. I tryed to gently blow air on her or spray her with water (which she normally hates) and its not doing anything. So I took her in my hand, her legs aren't extended at all. I figured she was just dead when I took her, but no she was still berely moving.

I'm just scared because I don't want her to die, but if she's just too old.... because when I bought her the guy never told me how old she was and the last time she molted was about a year and a half ago.

I guess it's the way it's suppose to be. Anyone let me know if i'm right.

Hibernation or death?

Have you called a vet or taken her to be seen? Have you gotten a book on tarantulas to educate yourself? Don't expect instant answers, especially medical ones, from unqualified strangers on the internet. If you care for her, you'll take her to a vet or bug specialist. Try calling a university and checking with their bug professor. But stop being cheap. Medical care is part of pet responsibility and is their right by law.

Hibernation or death?

Hey, other dude is right. You need to take the tarantula to a vet. You could pay $25-75 for her to live, or ignore the problem and be cheap and let her die.

Hibernation or death?

very often when tarantulas are having problems molting they seclude themselves and seize normal activities.that means there is a problem in your environment: low temperatures, low or lacking humidity, and possibly not enough food. they molt because of growth not just because a certain period of time has passed.try raising the temp to about 85-95 degrees depending on the type you have and mist it every other day lightly. increase it's food intake too after it has molted. you say it was trapped under a log, if it was trying to molt and couldn't turn over it would have died! try the above and good luck!

Hibernation or death?

Sounds likes she molting to me . A Tarantula can live for 25 years . Make sure her habitat is the right temp and humidity . Some times they will climb up the glass and fall . I hope she has not injured herself by falling on a hide .Check out the Tarantula forum at http://www.repticzone.com
