If it has a preposition it is a prepositional phrase, If you don't know what a preposition is they are:

aboard, about, above, across, against, along, around, amid, among, after, at, except, for, during, down, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, before, beyond.

Your question doesn't make any sense. A sentence is not a verb, an adjective, or any of the other things you listed. Sentences CONTAIN these things. You might as well ask, "Look at that girl--is she an eye, a nose, or an elbow?" What is the actual question your teacher asked you to work on? (By the way, your first example isn't even a correct sentence.)
