When a piece of clothing that has just came out of the dryer is held close to your arm, the hair on your arm will stand up. Why does this happen?

Static electricity?
Because the clothes in the dryer built up a negative charge while the hairs on your arm had a positive charge kind of like a magnet. The same end result can be done using a balloon as well.
