how do you get your hair to stay on the rag? is that what you tie?

yes, you tie the ends of the rag...you can find spongy rollers w/a small piece of wire inside (fabric covered) at most Walgreens that will achieve the same effect (I want to say they are Conair brand, but I might be wrong). The wires make it easy to keep them secure (you just twist them like the twist-ties on bread). Good luck!

Wet or gunk the hair in small sections. and use long enuf rags so you'll have ends sticking out past the hair on both sides...roll up like a jelly-roll [easier with wet or gunked hair, right?] then single-knot the rags to keep the hair in. Rags should be made of soft cloth [my gran used torn up old pillow-cases] and about 1" wide. Once the hair dries, you can usually ease the rags off and then untie them afterwards without tearing pieces of hair that might catch in the rags. Eeeeeasssyyyy duz it! When I was a kid, my sisters wanted to have Shirley Temple curls...and that's how gran made them. These curls were also called "sausage curls" because that's what they came out looking like if you didn't comb them out and flufferize them.
