When you color your hair do you start at the top or bottom of your head?

I always do around my face, then the top to bottom. I wonder if I would reverse what I'm doing? It just seems to me like it would be naturally lighter up there so that's where I start (I color my hair lighter not darker).

Also, some tips on coloring the whole head of hair? How do you make sure to get all your hair without missing pieces? I've gone from bleaching to coloring and want the color to match my roots of course, I think I'll do the roots and then put the color on the rest of my hair for just five minutes or so. Sound good?

I start at the top. Put all of it up except the area that I'm working on and try and just do it a little at a time.

Always start at the roots, and work your way outwards towards the ends. I always start at the roots, and make sure they're completely done, then pour dye onto different sections of my hair, and work it all the way through my hair until everything is saturated. Then I put it up and wait for about 30 minutes (I think that's the standard waiting time it tells you in the directions), and then wash the dye out.

Follow the directions on the box, and if possible have someone apply the dye for you. Or at the very least make sure you have someone that can tell you if you missed a spot.

you need to start at different places each time. i know that sounds weird but you do not want to damage your hair. you need to part your hair off into four sections and do the sections one at a time using 1/8 inch partings. the reason you need to alternate is because if you start at the same place every time you will damage the hair that has had the product on it longer. but when you rotate it evens out. that way you hair wont break. if your using a permanent color it has a lifting action and depositing action, which means if lifts just like a lightener (bleach). if you do it this way you hair will be healthier.
